Statement as of 3:47 PM CDT on May 10, 2008

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 7 PM CDT this evening through
    Sunday morning...
    ... Flood Watch is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a

    * Flash Flood Watch for Boone... Dallas... Grundy... Hamilton
Hardin... Jasper... Marshall... Polk... Poweshiek... story... Tama
and Webster... Black Hawk... Madison... Mahaska... Marion
Warren... Adair... Cass... Audubon... Calhoun... Carroll
    Crawford... Greene... Guthrie and SAC.

    * From 7 PM CDT this evening through Sunday morning

    * expect showers and thunderstorms to increase in coverage this
evening and continue overnight. Numerous rounds of precipitation
are expected with the potential for very heavy rainfall to
occur. Rainfall amounts of one and one half to three inches are
possible. These rainfall amounts over a short period of time
will cause flash flooding across the area. In
addition... numerous streams including the Des
Moines... Iowa... Cedar and south Skunk River basins are already
at elevated flow levels and could again exceed flood stage
depending on where the heaviest rains materialize.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

The Flood Watch for portions of central Iowa... northeast Iowa...
south central Iowa... southwest Iowa and west central Iowa has

    Wind Advisory
    Sponsored by State Farm

Statement as of 3:35 PM CDT on May 10, 2008

... Wind Advisory now in effect from 5 am to 12 PM CDT Sunday...

The Wind Advisory is now in effect from 5 am to 12 PM CDT Sunday.

Expect strong northwest winds to develop late tonight with winds
increasing to 25 to 35 mph. Wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph are also
possible. The gusty winds will continue into Sunday morning
    before diminishing.

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph are
expected. Winds this strong can make travel difficult...
especially for high profile vehicles. Extra caution is advised.
