Statement as of 11:40 PM CST on December 24, 2009 ... Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 am CST Friday... The Flood Watch continues for * portions of Illinois... Iowa and northeast Missouri... including the following areas... in Illinois... Bureau... Carroll... Hancock... Henderson... Henry IL... Jo Daviess... McDonough... Mercer... Putnam... Rock Island... Stephenson... Warren and Whiteside. In Iowa... Cedar... Clinton... Des Moines... Dubuque... Henry IA... Jackson... Johnson... Jones... Lee... Linn... Louisa... Muscatine... Scott and Washington. In northeast Missouri... Clark. * Until 6 am CST Friday * additional rainfall amounts up to an inch by Saturday morning will lead to flooding along some area rivers. Flooding of Urban and Small Stream drainage areas will also be possible due to blockages from snow and ice. * Flood warnings are already in effect for the Wapsipinicon River near DeWitt and the la moine river near Colmar. Several other rivers are expected to rise to within a foot of flood stage during the next few days. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Monitor later forecasts and take action if a Flood Warning is issued or flooding develops. |
