A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 3 am Monday to
6 am CST Tuesday.
Rain will occasionally mix with snow overnight... then change to
all snow by sunrise Monday in southeast Nebraska. The rain and
snow mix will likely continue later into the morning in southwest
Iowa. However the snow may be heavy at times during the morning
commute in southeast Nebraska... especially in those counties along
the Kansas border. Snow will continue off and on through the day
Monday and into Monday night. Periods of a rain and snow mix could
occur during the afternoon as well. The combination of snow and
period of rain snow mix will make total snow amounts difficult to
pin down. However a swath of 4 to 6 inch amounts appear likely in
those Nebraska counties along the Kansas border... with lesser
amounts in the 3 to 4 inch range likely in southwest Iowa through
Nebraska City and Wilber. A sharp northern edge to snowfall will
likely result as well... with an inch or less of snow accumulation
north of the advisory area along the Interstate 80 corridor.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving. Allow extra travel time to reach your destination on
Monday.
