Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 6:26 AM CST Feb. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 am CST this
morning...

* short term trends... areas of blowing snow remain across the
area... as gusty northwest winds continue through mid morning.
The light snow showers have ended... so conditions are expected
to improve through the morning hours.

* Winds/visibility... northwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 40
mph. Visibility will be reduced to below two miles at times.

* Wind chills... wind chills in the 15 below to around 20 below
range are expected through mid morning.

* Impacts... travel is not advised over portions of northern Iowa
due to blowing and drifting snow causing reductions in
visibility and slick roads. At this time Interstate 35 remains
closed from Ames to Clear Lake.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for blowing snow means that blowing
snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving
especially in open areas.

Any reports of blowing snow and reduced visibility are much
appreciated and can be relayed directly to the National Weather
Service using twitter handle NWS Des Moines... hashtag nwsdmx or
Post to the NWS Des Moines facebook Page.
