Heat Advisory
Statement as of 4:09 AM CDT on July 22, 2014

...Heat advisory remains in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening...

* temperatures...there was little relief overnight and temperatures will again climb into the mid and upper 90s for most locations this afternoon and around 100 at Lincoln.

* Timing...highest heat index values will again top out around 103 to 113 from 2pm to 6pm.

* Impacts...the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. The Young and elderly are especially at risk to the heat and humidity...check up on relatives and neighbors if they do not have air-conditioning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
