Mostly cloudy. Occasional showers and chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then occasional showers and slight chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Locally heavy rainfall possible. Lows 60 to 72. East winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.
Sunday
Partly sunny with showers likely. Highs 75 to 82. East winds 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts. Chance of rain 70 percent.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for... the island of Kauai in Kauai County
* until 445 PM HST
* at 136 PM HST... radar and rain gages continue to indicate torrential rain falling over the mountains of Kauai... and over the North... East and southeast shores. Additional heavy rain is approaching the island... and flash flooding is ongoing. Kauai civil defense reports numerous Road closures on the windward side... and the Road to Hanalei remains closed due to flooding. Take immediate action to protect life and property.
* This warning includes all of the north and east sides of Kauai.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flash Flood Warning means flash flooding is imminent or occurring in streams... roads and low lying areas. Move to higher ground now.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot. Turn around... Don/T drown.
This Flash Flood Warning replaces the pre-existing warning that was in effect for the island of Kauai in Kauai County.
Runoff from this storm may also cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain.
This warning may need to be extended beyond 445 PM HST if flash flooding persists.
