Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 10:12 AM HST on November 14, 2009
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the
* Flood Advisory for the island of Oahu in Honolulu County
* until 115 PM HST
* at 1010 am HST... radar showed areas of moderate to heavy rain
moving over the island pf Oahu from the southeast. Rainfall rates
near 2 inches per hour will accompany the heaviest showers...
resulting in nuisance flooding across many areas of Oahu.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect.
This advisory may need to be extended beyond 115 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through this afternoon...
The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for
* all Hawaiian islands.
* Through this afternoon.
* Nearly stationary upper level low pressure west of the state
will maintain an unstable atmosphere. Combined with sufficient
moisture moving in from the east-southeast the threat of flash
flooding will continue through this afternoon.
* Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Prepare now for the possibility of very heavy
rainfall that could cause flash flooding.
Campers and hikers should pay particular attention to later
forecasts. Stay away from creeks... streams... and other flood
prone areas. Remember that it does not have to be raining where
you are for flash flooding to occur.
