Statement as of 5:20 AM HST on November 12, 2009 ... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight... The Flash Flood Watch continues for * all Hawaiian islands. * Through late tonight. * The potential for heavy showers and thunderstorms remains over the state as an upper level low passes just north of the islands. The upper low will remain just west of the islands through tonight... keeping the atmosphere unstable. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Prepare now for the possibility of very heavy rainfall that could cause flash flooding. Campers and hikers should pay particular attention to later forecasts. Stay away from creeks... streams... and other flood prone areas. Remember that it does not have to be raining where you are for flash flooding to occur.
