Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 7:47 PM HST on November 10, 2009
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a
* Flood Advisory for the island of Oahu in Honolulu County
* until 1045 PM HST
* at 742 PM HST... radar showed heavy rain along the koolau mountain
range. The area of heavy rain was nearly stationary.
* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Waimanalo... Kaneohe... Waiahole... Wahiawa... and Hauula.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.
This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1045 PM HST if heavy
rain persists.

324 PM HST Tue Nov 10 2009
... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late Thursday
night...
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* Kahoolawe... Kauai... Lanai... Maui... Molokai... Niihau and Oahu.
* Through late Thursday night.
* Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop as a
strong upper level low develops north of the islands tonight...
and tracks over the islands Wednesday. The upper low will remain
near the islands through at least Thursday... continuing the
threat for flash flooding.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Prepare now for the possibility of very heavy
rainfall that could cause flash flooding.
Campers and hikers should pay particular attention to later
forecasts. Stay away from creeks... streams... and other flood
prone areas. Remember that it does not have to be raining where
you are for flash flooding to occur.
