The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* until 300 PM HST

* at noon HST... radar showed heavy downpours from near Hilo to Pahoa
and Kapoho. Other showers and thundershowers were developing
upslope from Naalehu and Pahala. Additional heavy showers are
expected to develop early this afternoon over the leeward slopes
of Mauna Loa and over the Humuula Saddle.

* Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Captain Cook... Pohakuloa Camp... Waikii... Mountain View...
Kealakekua... Keaau... Kapoho... Hawaiian Paradise Park...
Hawaiian beaches... and Ocean View.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

This advisory will be extended beyond 300 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.
