Statement as of 4:13 PM HST on November 11, 2009 ... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late Thursday night... The Flash Flood Watch continues for * all Hawaiian islands. * Through late Thursday night. * Heavy showers and thunderstorms can be expected over portions of the state due to an upper level low just north of the islands. The upper low will remain near the islands through at least Thursday... continuing the threat for flash flooding. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Prepare now for the possibility of very heavy rainfall that could cause flash flooding. Campers and hikers should pay particular attention to later forecasts. Stay away from creeks... streams... and other flood prone areas. Remember that it does not have to be raining where you are for flash flooding to occur.
