Statement as of 9:23 PM HST on May 22, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Maui in Maui County

* until 1215 am HST

* at 911 PM HST... radar showed areas of moderate to heavy rain over
portions of windward west Maui and the Maui Central Valley... from
Honolua to 10 miles southeast of Wailuku. The area of rain was
nearly stationary. Rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour will be
likely with these showers... and rapid rises will be possible on
area streams.

Waihee... Waiehu... napili... Kapalua... Kahakuloa... Honolua and
Honokohau.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1215 am HST if heavy
