Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:15 PM HST on March 03, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect until 6 am HST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for Maui and The Big Island

* until 6 am HST Thursday.

* Heavy rain and thunderstorms will bring the threat for
flash flooding on Maui and The Big Island.

* The highest threat areas will be over the windward sides of Maui
and The Big Island due to the trade wind flow. Excessive runoff
may result in rock and mudslides in steep terrain. Fast moving
waters may create life threatening situations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is very dangerous. Remember
that it does not have to be raining heavily where you are for
flash flooding to occur.

Monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate
action if flash flood warnings are issued.
