Statement as of 3:24 AM HST on March 01, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Maui in Maui County

* until 630 am HST

* at 317 am HST... radar showed heavy rain near Kahului falling at
rates of more than 2 inches per hour with additional heavy showers
developing over the west Maui mountains.

* Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Kanaha Beach Park... Wailuku... Waihee... Waiehu... Spreckelsville...
Pauwela... Paia... Kahakuloa... hookipa Beach Park... Honokohau and
Haiku.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.


This advisory may need to be extended beyond 630 am HST if heavy rain
persists.
