... High surf warning in effect until 7 PM chst this evening...
... High surf advisory in effect from 7 PM this evening to 6 am
chst Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in tiyan has upgraded the high surf
advisory to a high surf warning... which is in effect until 7 PM
chst this evening. The high surf advisory will remain in effect
from 7 PM this evening to 6 am chst Wednesday.

* Waves and surf... on Guam... surf on east facing reefs is peaking
this morning between 13 and 16 feet. Surf on south facing reefs
is peaking this morning between 10 and 14 feet.

* Timing... surf is peaking this morning and will begin to
subside this afternoon... but remain hazardous. Surf should
eventually subside below hazardous levels on Wednesday.

* Impacts... the surf will create a high risk of rip currents along
east and south facing reefs of the marianas. Minor coastal
inundation of around 1 foot is possible along with some
localized beach erosion.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that hazardous surf of at least 9 feet
will affect exposed reefs and beaches. Stay away from exposed
reefs and beaches... especially those along east and south facing
reefs.

A high surf warning indicates that dangerous... battering wave
will pound the shoreline. This will result in very dangerous
swimming conditions... and deadly rip currents.
