Statement as of 3:59 AM EST on November 11, 2009 The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a * Flood Warning for the Etowah river near Canton... * until Thursday evening. * At 3 am Wednesday the stage was 13.7 feet... and rising. * Minor flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 16 feet. * Forecast to rise above flood stage later this morning and continue to rise to near 18.3 feet by after midnight tomorrow. The river will fall below flood stage by tomorrow afternoon. * At 16 feet... flood stage is reached. Minor flooding begins in boiling park in Canton. Soccer fields and lady warriors Ball fields begin to flood. This is located behind the Canton High School which is on higher ground. In addition... the Canton Greenway begins to flood.. 348 am EST Wed Nov 11 2009 The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a * Flood Warning for the Etowah river near East Canton... * until further notice. * At 2 am Wednesday the stage was 16.6 feet... and rising. * Flood stage is 17 feet. 305 am EST Wed Nov 11 2009 The Flood Warning continues for the Little River near Woodstock * until further notice. * At 2 am EST Wednesday the stage was 12.2 feet... and rising. * Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Moderate flood stage is 16.0 feet. |

Statement as of 3:20 AM EST on November 11, 2009 ... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening... A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening... for all of north and central Georgia. A strong pressure gradient will continue over the area due to the remnants of Ida and strong high pressure over the Great Lakes area. Winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts of 35 to 40 can be expected to continue through this evening. Additionally... with wet ground conditions across the area... it will not take very strong winds for trees to begin to fall. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory means that winds of 20 to 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. |
