Statement as of 10:37 AM EST on December 17, 2009 The Flood Warning continues for the Altamaha river at Baxley. * Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled. * At 9:45 am Thursday the stage was 80.1 feet. * Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 74.5 feet. * Forecast... the river will remain near 80.1 feet. * Impact... at 82.0 feet... 	Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 2:32 PM EST on December 17, 2009 ... Flood Watch in effect from late tonight through Friday evening... The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a * Flood Watch for a portion of southeast Georgia. * From late tonight through Friday evening * widespread rains are expected to develop across the watch area late tonight and persist through Friday evening. Rainfall amounts during this event will average between 2 and 3 inches with locally heavier amounts possible. The ground in these areas is nearly saturated. In addition... minor flooding is already occurring along portions of the Altamaha river. * Additional flooding near the Altamaha river is possible along with low-land flooding. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
