Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, February 13, 2012.

The trough of low pressure that brought unsettled weather to the West on Sunday will advance into the Plains on Monday with more mixed precipitation. The trough will support a low and associated warm front moving eastward into the Southern Plains. As the system progresses, rain showers with periods of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms will spread from parts of central/eastern Texas into western Louisiana, mixed precipitation will develop in parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas, and snow will blanket parts of the Central Plains, Mid-Mississippi Valley, and parts of the western Ohio Valley. Areas from eastern Texas through Arkansas should expect the heaviest precipitation totals. Heightened winter weather conditions will allow Winter Weather Advisories and a few Winter Storm Warnings to remain in effect through the day. Elsewhere east of the Continental Divide, lake-effect snow showers will continue along parts of the Lower Great Lakes Snowbelt.

In the West, a Pacific cold front pushing across the Pacific Northwest will drop southward across northern California, bringing coastal and valley rain and significant snowfall to the Sierra Nevadas.

Special Statement
Mobile & Email Alerts Statement as of 8:35 PM EST on February 12, 2012

... Fire Danger Statement...

... High fire danger conditions Monday afternoon for central and
parts of north Georgia due to low relative humidities...

Relative humidities of 25 percent or less can be expected for 4
or more hours Monday afternoon. Winds will be south to southwest
at 5 to 10 mph.

With dry fuels... high fire danger conditions can be expected.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities concerning
whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn outside... use extreme
caution.

453 PM EST sun Feb 12 2012

... A wintry mix possible Monday night into Tuesday morning...

A strong Arctic high which has affected the area the last two days
will gradually shift east of the area... allowing for a return of
moisture to the area late Monday. This will result in precipitation
moving into the western portions of the area late Monday evening
and the remainder of the area through Monday night.

Enough cold air is expected to be in place to result in a 3 to 6
hour period of a mixture of light rain and light snow. Little... if
any accumulation is expected. Any snow that does accumulate will
be confined to grassy areas. The precipitation will turn to all
rain by Tuesday afternoon.

There is quite a bit of uncertainty with this forecast
given the amount of cold air remaining in place and timing issues
with respect to the precipitation. Therefore... everyone is encouraged
to check frequently for forecast updates issued from this office.

moisture to the area late Monday. This will result in precipitation
moving into the western portions of the area late Monday evening
