The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a * Flood Warning for the Oconee river near Milledgeville * from this morning until Friday afternoon. * At 545 am Wednesday the stage was 24.9 feet... and rising rapidly. * Moderate flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 27.0 feet. * Forecast to rise above flood stage this morning and continue to rise to near 33.8 feet by after midnight Thursday. The river will fall below flood stage late Friday morning. * At 35.0 feet... major flooding begins. Numerous roads are closed in the east side of Milledgeville near the Oconee river... Fishing Creek and Tanyard branch stream. Widespread flooding of Woodlands near the river occurs.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening... for all of north and central Georgia.
A strong pressure gradient will continue over the area due to the remnants of Ida and strong high pressure over the Great Lakes area. Winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts of 35 to 40 can be expected to continue through this evening. Additionally... with wet ground conditions across the area... it will not take very strong winds for trees to begin to fall.
