A Wind Advisory remains in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 am
EST Thursday for north and central Georgia.

A cold front will sweep across north and central Georgia today.
Strong and gusty winds will develop across the region late this
afternoon and tonight behind this cold front... and will continue
through Wednesday night. Sustained north to northwest winds of 20
to 30 mph can be expected with gusts to 40 mph or possibly higher.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of 20 mph or
higher or gusts to 35 mph or stronger are expected. Winds this
strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile
vehicles. Use extra caution. Soils across north and central
Georgia remain nearly saturated from recent heavy rains... this
will put some trees and power lines in danger of falling in the
strong winds.

... Fischer-Porter rebuild /fpr/ now implemented at cooperative
station...

This equipment modification will change the way the precipitation
measurement is taken. There will be no change in the quality or the
timeliness of the stations' hourly precipitation data /hpd/. Data
will continue to be reported in monthly hpd publications.

There are a total of ten sites to receive the Fischer-Porter rebuild
in the WFO-Peachtree City County Warning Area /cwa/. Sites that were
upgraded are listed with their implementation dates below.

The data from fpr gage will be reported by the National climate
data center /ncdc/ as a monthly product in the hourly precipitation
data /hpd/ bulletin five months after the month of measurement.
