The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
central DeKalb County in north central Georgia
central Fulton County in north central Georgia
* until 1130 PM EDT
* at 832 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
very heavy rain moving across central Fulton and central DeKalb
counties... from Avondale Estates to Atlanta... to College Park.
Rainfall rates in these storms exceeds two inches per hour in
some areas. Some rainfall reports of over three inches of rain
have already been received in western DeKalb County from previous
storms this evening. The South Fork of Peachtree creek in eastern
Fulton County was rapidly approaching the flood stage of 12.0
feet... and will likely exceed this value within the next hour.
* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Buckhead...
Pine Lake... Avondale Estates... Decatur... Clarkston... Druid Hills
and Midtown.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

... Significant weather alert for pea sized hail... 40 mph winds... frequent lightning and heavy rain in Clayton... Douglas... DeKalb... Cobb and Fulton counties until 915 PM EDT... At 811 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a cluster strong thunderstorms from south Cobb... to western Fulton... to Douglass counties... moving east at 15 mph. These storms have the potential to produce pea sized hail... frequent cloud to ground lightning and wind gusts to 40 mph as they move across Clayton... Douglas... DeKalb... Cobb and Fulton counties through 915 PM EDT. Some locations in the path of these storms include Sandtown... Bill Arp... Sweetwater Creek State Park... Winston... Hannah... Fairplay... Douglasville... Chapel HIll... Lithia Springs... Six Flags Over Georgia... Mableton... Austell... Powder Springs... Campbellton... Atlanta and Smyrna. Brief heavy downpours will cause ponding of water on roadways.
