... Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* much of north and central Georgia.

* Through this evening.

* An area of low pressure developing over the Gulf of Mexico this
morning... will move across North Florida and south Georgia today.
Moderate to locally heavy rain is expected through much of the day.
The rain will diminish this evening as the surface low moves to
the mid Atlantic states... and then up the East Coast.

* Rainfall totals between 1 and 3 inches are expected across the
watch area... with locally higher amounts possible.

Multiple recent heavy rain events have caused the soils across north
and central Georgia to become wet or nearly saturated causing well
above average stream flow levels... with several large creeks and
rivers still in minor flood. The additional rainfall will quickly
turn into runoff causing rises on streams... creeks and rivers.
The expected rainfall could result in additional minor to isolated
moderate flooding across the area of concern. Ponding of water on
roads will be possible in low lying or slow draining areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood
warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until midnight EST tonight...

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until midnight EST tonight for much
of north and central Georgia.

A strong area of low pressure will move out of the Gulf of Mexico and
track across North Florida and south Georgia today and tonight. The
pressure gradient between the low and a large area of high pressure
to the north will cause strong... gusty winds across north and central
Georgia. Winds speeds of around 20 mph with occasional gusts over 30
mph can be expected. With saturated soils from ongoing rain... trees
and powerlines may be downed at lower wind speeds than might
otherwise be necessary.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 20
mph... or gusts to 35 mph or stronger are expected. Winds this strong
can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles.
Use extra caution.
