Public Information Statement
Statement as of 10:17 PM EDT on April 25, 2015

... Widespread straight-line wind damage primarily from southeast
Alabama into southwest Georgia...

This afternoon a powerful line of thunderstorms tracked across the
region... with the strongest storms affecting southeast Alabama and
southwest Georgia. Numerous reports of downed trees and power
lines have been received from that area. This damage was scattered
across a wide area and many counties and is consistent with non-
tornadic... straight-line wind damage. It is likely that a
widespread area saw gusts in the 50-60 mph range with localized
areas receiving gusts as high as 70+ mph based on the reports
received and radar wind velocity data.
