Now
Well defined outflow boundary is charging southward across southern Brevard and Osceola counties with a large area of rain with embedded storms behind it across lake...Volusia...Seminole and Orange counties. Meanwhile...isolated strong storms are developing along the inland-moving East Coast sea breeze across Indian River...Saint Lucie...Martin and Okeechobee counties. These storms will increase in coverage and intensity as the outflow boundary intersects storms and their outflows. The primary threat will be frequent to excessive cloud to ground lightning. A few storms may become severe with large hail and damaging downburst winds. Whenever there are multiple boundary collisions...there is the chance of a small brief tornado. Storm movement should show more purpose toward the east or northeast across the southern counties. Still...torrential downpours will produce a quick one to two inches of rain causing temporary flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas. Total rain accumulations around 3 inches will be possible in spots.

... Strong thunderstorms affecting St. Lucie County... may develop southward into Martin County...
At 651 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a strong storm over Saint Lucie west... moving northeast at 10 mph.
Locations in the path of this strong storm include Port Saint Lucie and Fort Pierce. Additional strong storms are expected to develop southward into Martin County.
The primary threat will be cloud to ground lightning strikes and gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph... which can cause unsecured objects to blow around... snap tree limbs or cause power outages. Heavy rainfall will temporarily reduce visibility. Seek shelter indoors until the storm passes.
A brief period of small hail... pea to dime size... will also be possible in localized areas.
Torrential rainfall can be expected... causing temporary ponding on some roads and minor flooding of poor drainage areas. Motorists should slow down in heavy rainfall to reduce the risk of hydroplaning and leave safe distance between other vehicles.
