Statement as of 4:55 PM EDT on July 10, 2009 The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued an * urban and small stream flood advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in... southern Flagler County in northeast Florida... this includes the cities of... Bunnell... Andalusia... southeastern Putnam County in northeast Florida... this includes the city of Crescent City... northeastern Marion County in northern Florida... this includes the cities of... Salt Springs... Lynne... Juniper Springs... Fort McCoy... * until 700 PM EDT * at 454 PM EDT Weather Service Doppler radar indicated heavy rain along a line from Bunnell to Crescent City producing 1 to 2 inches of rainfall in the last hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the advisory area. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Excessive runoff from these storms will cause flooding of small creeks and streams... highways... streets and underpasses. Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks and streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding. Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground. Remember... turn around dont drown. A significant weather alert has been issued for southeastern Putnam and southern Flagler counties for strong winds... small hail and excessive lightning valid until 545 PM EDT... At 459 PM EDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms centered along a line extending from 8 miles southwest of Bunnell to Georgetown... moving southwest at 10 mph. These strong thunderstorms will also affect areas around Crescent City... Bunnell and Georgetown through 545 PM EDT. Hail up to one half inch in diameter... excessive cloud-to-ground lightning and gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph can be expected along with possible minor damage. Heavy rainfall will produce ponding of water on roadways and minor flooding of low-lying areas. Report damage to the nearest law enforcement agency or your County emergency management. Lat...
