Nowcast | as of 4:26 PM EDT on June 2, 2015

Despite cloudiness from ongoing convection over the Gulf of Mexico...numerous showers and storms continue to develop along the East Coast sea breeze as it pushes inland this afternoon. Individual storms will generally move slowly off to the north-northeast at around 5 mph...but overall the focus of activity will continue to shift inland with the sea breeze. However...the offshore component to the wind will keep light to moderate rain with embedded thunderstorms ongoing along the coast into the evening. Heavy rainfall leading to minor flooding of low-lying areas and roadways and frequent lightning will be the main threats with activity into this evening. A few stronger storms may produce small hail and wind gusts to around 50 mph...with the best threat primarily over the interior with any boundary collisions. Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 6:02 PM EDT on June 02, 2015

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for poor drainage areas
for...
Central Lake County in east central Florida...
northwestern Orange County in east central Florida...

* until 730 PM EDT

* at 559 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated two to three inches of
rain had fallen across northwest Orange County and Central Lake
County over the past hour. This rainfall is leading minor flooding
in the advisory area including to overflowing poor drainage areas
and roadways. An additional one to two inches will be possible as
these storms weaken and push slowly westwards.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Apopka... Ocoee... Winter Garden... Eustis and Tavares.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few
inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
