Nowcast | as of 6:00 PM EST on March 2, 2015

With the loss of heating after the setting sun...patches of dense marine fog over the nearshore Atlantic waters will spread over the barrier islands and eventually across the Mainland this evening. The fog will first move onshore Volusia County and the cape early this evening and then into much of Volusia County and the space coast by mid evening. The fog will spread further west and south later this evening to encompass much of Metro Orlando before midnight. While the fog spreads over land...it will also thicken up and become quite dense at times. Visibilities at times will go below one quarter mile by mid evening along the coast of Volusia and Brevard counties and by midnight over the interior. Lowering visibilities can make travel difficult...and motorists are encouraged to give themselves extra time to reach their destinations. Always use just low beam headlights when driving through fog.

Dense Fog Advisory
Statement as of 9:45 PM EST on March 02, 2015

... Dense fog advisory in effect until 7 am EST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a dense fog
advisory... which is in effect until 7 am EST Tuesday.

* Visibility... visibilities will be reduced to a quarter mile or
less at times in areas of fog in locations along the barrier
islands and east of I-95 this evening... expanding into interior
portions of these counties later tonight.

* Impacts... areas of dense fog will make driving conditions
hazardous on many area roadways. This includes area roads and
highways in Volusia... Brevard... and Indian River counties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
