a Hurricane Warning remains in effect along the immediate coastal
areas of Walton... Bay and Gulf counties. Inland areas away from
the immediate coast are now under a Tropical Storm Wind Warning.

Now is the time to make the final preparations to protect life and
property.

Listen carefully to the advice of emergency management agencies in
your area. If they urge an evacuation... leave as soon as possible.
Guard against being stuck out on roadways when dangerous winds and
heavy rains arrive.

At this time... winds up to hurricane force appear possible only
near the immediate coast while tropical storm force winds are very
likely well inland. These winds will be capable of causing
minor to moderate damage to most Mobile homes. Houses of poor
construction will have minor to moderate damage to
shingles... siding... and gutters. Some structural damage is also
possible.

Make sure to secure light to moderate weight items that could
become airborne causing additional damage and possible injury.

If you have not already done so... stock up on non-perishable
foods... like canned goods and bottled water. A good rule of thumb
is to have at least a three day food and water supply for each
person in your family. Refill any needed prescriptions that you
may need in the days following the storm.


... Probability of tropical storm/hurricane conditions...
the chance for hurricane conditions at this time is 10 to 15
percent. Also... the chance for tropical storm conditions at this
time is up to 85 percent.

... Winds...
as Hurricane Ida approaches... sustained tropical storm force
winds are expected to begin early Monday evening. There is the
potential that gusts to hurricane force along the immediate coast will
accompany the heavier bands with Ida Monday night and Tuesday
morning.

... Storm surge and storm tide...
a long period of onshore winds associated with Ida will create
conditions favorable for storm surge. At this time... storm surge
values of 3 to 4 feet are expected across the Florida Panhandle
coast. Combining this with the astronomical tide produces an
overall storm tide of 4 to 6 feet possible... especially around the
time of high tide on Tuesday morning. Below are times of high tide
for selected locations along the Florida Panhandle.

Destin... high tide at 323 am Tuesday morning.

Panama City Beach... high tide at 139 am Tuesday morning.

Apalachicola... high tide at 1107 PM Monday night.

In addition to the threat for coastal flooding... large and
battering surf will begin to impact the beaches on Monday and only
increase in intensity by Tuesday morning. Surf heights of 9 to 12
feet will be possible. This will likely cause moderate to major
beach erosion. Needless to say... rip current risk will be extreme
and everyone... even experienced swimmers and surfers should remain
out of the water.

... Inland flooding...
storm total rainfall of 3 to 5 inches is expected along the path
of Ida with locally heavier amounts possible. This could cause
minor flooding in urban areas.
