Nowcast | as of 2:49 PM EDT on May 22, 2015

Both the east and West Coast sea breezes have formed and as of mid afternoon were pushing across the I-95 and I-75 corridors... respectively. To the north...a weak frontal boundary was located along and south of the I-4 corridor. Latest satellite imagery showed a deeper and more expansive field of cumulus clouds had formed south of U.S. 192 south of the front...whereas the cumulus field was noticeably more sparse north the front as drier air was filtering down the peninsula. Through late afternoon...expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop south of U.S. 192 and west of I-95 as the East Coast sea breeze pushes inland. North of U.S. 192 there will be a slight chance for showers...but thunderstorm activity will be quite low. Toward evening...the sea breezes are expected to merge in the vicinity of the Kissimmee river with additional thunderstorm activity expected to develop along and west of the Florida Turnpike. A few of these storms may become strong with frequent cloud-to-ground lightning...strong downburst winds...and small hail possible.
