Nowcast | as of 4:30 PM EDT on August 20, 2014

Through the remainder of the afternoon...conditions will be rather hot and humid. There will be some concern for heat stress through sunset for those outside...and especially those in full sunshine and engaged in rigorous physical activities. The heat index will be between 100 to 105 degrees. People are urged to fight the heat by drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks if working outdoors. Seek shade or air conditioned places if at all possible. There will be little relief from any afternoon storms as rain chances are below normal today into this evening. Isolated storms will occur from Ocala and Leesburg...to Lake George and Zellwood. Other widely scattered storms will occur in vicinity of Lake Okeechobee...mainly near the town of Okeechobee over to Indiantown. There will be an increased number of storms south of the lake...across the south peninsula. Additional details...including graphics are available online at: http://www.Srh.NOAA.Gov/mlb/blog.Php
