Nowcast | as of 3:49 PM EDT on September 17, 2014

Mostly cloudy to overcast skies have kept temperatures in the low to mid 80s this afternoon. The lack of solar heating has limited the amount of convection despite a very moist atmosphere. However...a weak trough or wind shift boundary is slipping south across Volusia and North Lake counties at this time and an onshore flow is developing along the Volusia coast. These boundaries should spark scattered showers and a few storms late this afternoon with motion toward the south and southeast at 10 to 15 mph toward the Orlando Metro area and North Brevard County through early evening. Farther south...an area of rain with embedded storms will push east across Martin County preceded by a gust front producing winds up to 35 mph. Lighter showers will affect portions of Okeechobee and Saint Lucie counties. Additional details...including graphics are available online at: http://www.Srh.NOAA.Gov/mlb/blog.Php
