A heat advisory remains in effect from noon to 7 PM CDT Friday. A heat advisory also remains in effect from noon to 7 PM CDT Saturday.
A hot and humid airmass will affect the region for Friday into this weekend... when high temperatures are expected to range from the middle and upper 90s across coastal locations... to near 100 degrees across inland areas. The heat will combine with high humidity to result in afternoon heat index readings from 105 to 110 degrees. The most oppressive conditions are expected for inland locations immediately adjacent to the coast. Additionally... low temperatures will only fall into the middle and upper 70s... providing little relief from the hot conditions. This will cause heat stress to build through the weekend.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors.
