Nowcast | as of 1:04 PM EDT on October 1, 2014

A stalled out frontal boundary across the Central Peninsula has a weak impulse moving along it. This is expected to lead to a large area of showers from Lake County to Volusia County. The showers will be slow moving and one inch of rainfall is possible along with isolated lightning strikes. Closer to the front from Orlando and Kissimmee to Cape Canaveral and Melbourne...where more surface heating was occurring...a few stronger storms are expected with rainfall amounts over 2 inches locally. Look for scattered showers and storms moving to the east at 15 to 20 mph across areas southward to Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast. The quicker storm motion should limit rainfall amounts there to one inch or less...but if the East Coast sea breeze sets up...a few stronger storms could generate higher amounts to near 2 inches.
