Coastal Broward County Severe Watches & Warnings NOAA Weather Radio

Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 11:34 AM EST on February 28, 2015

The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a

* Flood Advisory for minor flooding in poor drainage areas for...
southeastern Broward County in southeastern Florida...
northeastern Miami-Dade County in southeastern Florida...

* until 130 PM EST

* at 1123 am EST... Doppler radar indicated showers with a few embedded
thunderstorms along a line extending from the Opa-Locka and Hialeah area
northeast to just offshore Miami Beach and Hallandale Beach. This activity
is moving little with the activity offshore Miami Beach and Hallandale
Beach about to move onshore. Doppler radar rainfall estimates indicate
as much as 3-5 inches of rain have fallen across portions of the area
this morning with some measured amounts as high as 5 inches. Any additional
activity will be capable of dumping similar rainfall amounts over the area
during the next few hours. This will result in the likelihood of street
flooding in hardest hit areas being high. Therefore a Flood Advisory is
now in effect.

* Some locations in the advisory area include...
Miami... Opa Locka... Miami Beach... Hallandale Beach and communities in
between or adjacent to them.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
