... Wind Chill Advisory in effect until 9 am EST this morning...

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Wind
Chill Advisory... which is in effect until 9 am EST this morning.

* Timing... through 9 am this morning.

* Winds... north 10 to 15 mph... with higher gusts.

* Wind chill readings... teens to lower 20s.

* Impact... those sensitive to the cold or planning on being
outside should take precautions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.





Hard Freeze Watch, Hard Freeze Warning
Statement as of 2:44 AM EST on February 12, 2012

... Hard freeze warning remains in effect until 9 am EST this
morning...
... Hard freeze watch now in effect from this evening through
Monday morning...

* temperature... low temperatures will be in the mid 20s this
morning... and again tonight.

* Impacts... freezing temperatures will kill sensitive vegetation
that is not protected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A hard freeze warning means that temperatures less than
27 degrees are expected for at least 2 hours. Appropriate action
should be taken to ensure tender vegetation and outdoor pets have
adequate protection from the cold temperatures. Young children...
the elderly and the homeless are especially vulnerable to the
cold. Take measures to protect them.

A hard freeze watch means that temperatures less than 27 degrees
are possible for at least 2 hours.







Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 8:34 AM EST on February 12, 2012

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening
for gusty winds... low humidity and elevated erc values for
northeast Florida...

* Erc... values will range between 33 and 37.

* Wind... northwest winds around 15 mph.

* Humidity... minimum rh values 15 to 25 percent.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.

At 654 am the temperature at Jacksonville International Airport fell
to 24 degrees. This breaks the previous record of 26 set in 1981.
