A coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 PM EST Friday.
A high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 am EST Friday.
With high pressure to our north and low pressure to our south, a
strong and persistent northeast flow is expected along the coasts
of New Jersey and Delaware into the weekend. As a result, tidal
departures will increase. Minor tidal flooding is likely beginning
late tonight and moderate tidal flooding is now expected Thursday
night through Friday.
Locations and tide heights...
For Atlantic City...
the high tide occurs Thursday around 330 am with a forecast height
around 6.5 feet. For Thursday evening, high tide is around 340 PM
with a forecast height approaching 7 feet. For Friday morning, the
high tide is around 420 am with a forecast height around 7.5 feet.
Friday evenings high tide is around 437 PM with a forecast height
around 7.5 feet.
For Cape May...
the high tide occurs Thursday around 400 am with a forecast
height around 7 feet. For Thursday evening, high tide is around
415 PM with a forecast height around 7.5 feet. For Friday morning,
the high tide is around 455 am with a forecast height approaching
8.5 feet, and Friday evenings high tide is around 510 PM with a
forecast height around 8 feet.
For Lewes Delaware...
the high tide occurs Thursday around 440 am with a forecast
height around 7 feet. For Thursday evening, high tide is around
455 PM with a forecast height around 7.5 feet. For Friday morning,
the high tide is around 530 am with a forecast height approaching
8.5 feet, and Friday evenings high tide is around 550 PM with a
forecast height approaching 8 feet.
For Rehoboth Beach...
the high tide occurs Thursday around 335 am with a forecast
height approaching 7 feet. For Thursday evening, high tide is
around 400 PM with a forecast height approaching 7.5 feet. For
Friday morning, the high tide is around 430 am with a forecast
height approaching 8 feet, and Friday evenings high tide is around
450 PM with a forecast height near 7.5 feet.
Flooding is expected to begin with tonights high tide cycle. The
extended period of onshore winds will inhibit water from draining
from the back bays and moderate flooding is expected to occur
there also. The potential for tidal flooding is expected to
continue into the early part of the weekend.
Waves off the coasts of New Jersey and Delaware are forecast to
build to around 15 feet or higher from tonight into the early
part of the weekend. As a result breakers along the coast may
approach 7 or 8 feet with a good deal of beach erosion
anticipated. A high surf advisory has been issued.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or
imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert
for rising water and take appropriate action to protect life and
property.
Do not park your vehicle in a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Also, avoid roadways that are prone to tidal flooding.
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach
erosion.
