... Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 8 am EDT Tuesday...
A coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 8 am EDT Tuesday.
A strong north to northeast wind across the mouth of Delaware Bay is preventing the natural flow of water in and out of the Bay. The elevated water levels will continue overnight and early Tuesday morning. The tidal level could reach moderate levels across the Delaware Bay... especially on the southern side of the Bay.
The following are times of high tide and water level forecasts... referenced to mean lower low water... for points along the Delaware river:
For Philadelphia... the next high tide will occur Tuesday morning around 9:23 am and is forecast to be around 8.0 feet above MLLW. This is below the minor tidal flooding level and will occur after the warning has expired. Spotty minor tidal flooding may be possible however.
For Breakwater Harbor Delaware... the next high tide will be at 4:13 am Tuesday with a forecast at 7.5 to 8.0 feet above MLLW. This will cause areas of moderate tidal flooding once again for the Delaware Bay affecting Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware and the southern part of New Jersey adjacent to Delaware Bay.
A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent. Persons living along the Delaware River adjacent to tributaries and roadways should be alert for rising water... and take appropriate action to protect life and property.

... Second coldest Max temperature for may 12th in Philadelphia...
The high temperature today at Philadelphia International Airport was only 49 degrees at 8:46 this morning. This is the second coldest Max temperature recorded in Philadelphia since records began in 1874. The record is 48 degrees set in 1882, which also had the coldest mean temperature of 45 for the day. To come this close to breaking a record that is 126 years old would be quite a record, but, then again so is having a Nor'easter on mothers day.
By the way, the normal Max and min temperature for today is 71 and 54 degrees. Highest ever for may 12th is 91 in 1881 and lowest is 37 in 1962. The average temperature for the first 11 days in may is 60.3 degrees which is exactly normal.
