Coastal Flood Watch
Statement as of 5:13 AM EST on November 11, 2009
... Coastal Flood Watch in effect from Friday morning through late
Friday night...
The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has
issued a coastal Flood Watch... which is in effect from Friday
morning through late Friday night.
A low pressure area off the North Carolina coast will reside over
roughly the same area for the latter half of this week. Gusty
northeasterly winds will push across the Chesapeake Bay and tidal
Potomac waters through this period. Effects from the strengthening
low will bring heightened water levels by early Friday...
with minor flooding expected and moderate flooding possible
during times of high tide on Friday afternoon and into Saturday...
depending of the track and strength of the low as the weekend
approaches.
Here are the times of the next high tides during the watch period.
For a few locations from north to south...
on the Chesapeake Bay...
Havre de Grace... 6:16 am and 7:10 PM Friday...
Fort McHenry Baltimore... 3:03 am and 3:57 PM Friday...
Annapolis U.S. Naval Academy... 1:33 am and 2:27 PM Friday...
Now along the Potomac River...
Alexandria... 5:00 am and 5:26 PM Friday...
Indian Head... 4:28 am and 4:54 PM Friday...
Goose Bay... 12:07 PM Thursday... 12:34 am and 1:00 PM Friday...
A coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for
flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be
alert for later statements or warnings... and take action to
protect property.
