Special Statement
Statement as of 10:21 AM EDT on July 30, 2015

... A few severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and
evening...

A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to reach western
New England early this afternoon. A few storms may produce wind
gusts as high as 60 mph... torrential rainfall and frequent
lightning... especially from the Berkshires to the Worcester Hills
and in northern Connecticut between 2 PM and 4 PM.

The storms are expected to weaken somewhat as they reach Rhode
Island and eastern Massachusetts between 4 and 6 PM... but could
still produce frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.

If you have outdoor plans... keep an eye to the sky and have a safe
place to go to if thunderstorms approach such as a vehicle or
building. If you can hear thunder... you are close enough to be
struck by lightning.
