... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Wednesday morning through
Wednesday afternoon...
The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southern Connecticut...
northeast New Jersey and southeast New York... including the
following areas... in southern Connecticut... northern
Fairfield... northern Middlesex... northern New Haven... northern
New London... southern Fairfield... southern Middlesex...
southern New Haven and southern New London. In northeast New
Jersey... Bergen... eastern Passaic... Essex... Hudson... Union and
western Passaic. In southeast New York... Bronx... Kings
(Brooklyn)... Nassau... New York (Manhattan)... northeastern
Suffolk... northern Westchester... northwestern Suffolk...
Orange... Putnam... Queens... Richmond (staten island)...
Rockland... southeastern Suffolk... southern Westchester and
southwestern Suffolk.
* From Wednesday morning through Wednesday afternoon
* snow across the interior will change to rain. Closer to the
coast... plain rain will occur. The precipitation will be heavy
at times across the entire region through the morning.
Precipitation amounts will range from 1 1/2 to 2 inches... with
locally up to 2 1/2 inches if any persistent rain bands develop.
The period of heaviest rain may coincide with the morning
commute... and may fall in a relatively short period of time.
This may resulting in flooding of urban... small streams and
other poor drainage and low lying areas.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
