... Red flag warning in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Thursday for
gusty winds... low humidity... and dry fuels for fire weather zone
207 below 8000 feet...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a red
flag warning for gusty winds... low humidity... and dry fuels...
which is in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Thursday. A red flag
warning remains in effect until 6 PM MDT this evening for gusty
winds... low humidity and dry fuels. The Fire Weather Watch for
Thursday is no longer in effect.

* Affected area... in Colorado... fire weather zone 207 Durango
forecast area.

* Wind... southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph...
diminishing this evening. Southwest winds from 20 to 30 mph
with gusts to 45 mph redevelop by midday Thursday and will
continue through Thursday evening.

* Humidity... 11 to 16 percent... improving after 6 PM MDT... then
falling again to 10 to 15 percent by Thursday afternoon.

* Impacts... the combination of dry fuels... low humidities... and
gusty surface winds will make any fires difficult to control.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Please advise the appropriate officials and affected field
personnel of this red flag warning.
