Weather Summary
Weather Underground midday recap for Wednesday, June 19, 2013. A transitional weather day occurred Wednesday as some areas of the country experienced active weather. The most active weather developed in the Plains as a storm moved through the Rockies and into the western Plains. This feature carried some moisture that produced areas of scattered showers and thunderstorms from the Oklahoma panhandle through Nebraska. Some of these thunderstorms were quite strong and were related to the thunderstorm that produced a tornado at the Denver International Airport Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a front moved along the eastern seaboard and produced areas of scattered showers and even some thunderstorms from Virginia through the Northeast coast. As the front moved off the coast, rain diminished for most areas. The one exception to this was in North Carolina where the front lingered through the afternoon.

Elsewhere, scattered showers developed through the Northwest and Intermountain West as a Summer storm system moved through the area.

A large high pressure system anchored over the Great Lakes provide dry conditions for much of the northern half of the country from the Plains through much of New England.

The Northeast rose into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast saw temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains rose into the 90s and 100s, while the Southwest saw similar temperatures.
