The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has also issued a Fire Weather Watch for Monday afternoon through Monday evening for this same area for gusty winds and low humidity.
Northwest wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph along with relative humidity of 10 to 15 percent are expected through evening. These will combine with dry fuels below 7000 feet elevation to create the potential for explosive fire growth this afternoon and early evening in the warning area.
On Monday... a strong cold front is expected to move across western Colorado and should be preceded by strong gusty winds and low humidity.
