Scattered thunderstorms will continue to develop and spread southeastward across the Front Range Metro areas and adjacent plains through 5 PM. The stronger storms moving into the Longmont area and others developing over Douglas and Elbert counties will be capable of producing one half to 1 inch of rain in 20 minutes...strong gusty winds up to 50 mph...frequent lightning...and small hail. Minor flooding of streets and intersections will be possible as the storms move through.

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
northeastern Boulder County in northeast Colorado
southwestern Weld County in northeast Colorado
* until 445 PM MDT
* at 344 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing one inch diameter hail...
and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located 6
miles north of Longmont... or 21 miles south of Fort Collins...
moving southeast at 15 mph.
* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to
Platteville... Mead... Lochbuie... Hudson... Frederick... Fort Lupton...
Firestone... Erie... Dacono and Longmont.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Hail... intense rain and strong damaging winds are likely with this
storm. Take cover in a substantial shelter until the storm passes.
If severe weather approaches your area... go inside a sturdy shelter
away from creek beds and other flood-prone areas. Remember... a severe
thunderstorm can produce large damaging hail... damaging winds in
excess of 58 mph... deadly lightning... and very heavy rain.
