Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 3:50 AM MDT on March 22, 2010
... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 PM this evening to
6 PM MDT Tuesday...
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a
Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 6 PM this
evening to 6 PM MDT Tuesday.
* Timing... 6pm this evening through 6pm Tuesday
* snow accumulation... 6 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts possible
* snow level... 7000 ft dropping to 6000 ft by Wednesday
* winds... west winds this morning will switch to north and east by
afternoon. Winds of 10 to 15 mph expected with higher gusts possible.
* Visibility... heavier snowshowers and occasional gusty winds will
drop visibility to below 1 mile.
* Impacts... roads will become icy and snowpacked overnight. Expect
snow covered mountain passes this evening and tomorrow.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and/or
blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
