Severe Thunderstorm Warning | |

Statement as of 4:41 PM MDT on July 05, 2009 ... A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 500 PM MDT for northeastern Denver and western Adams counties... At 439 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located 6 miles north of Manila Village... or 25 miles east of Denver... moving southeast at 25 mph. Another severe thunderstorm was located near Lochbuie... where flag poles and 3 inch diameter tree limbs were snapped due to high winds. Locations remaining in the warning include but are not limited to Watkins... Manila Village... Bennett... Denver International Airport... northeastern Denver... northeastern Commerce City and northeastern Aurora. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Hail... intense rain and strong damaging winds are likely with this storm. Take cover in a substantial shelter until the storm passes. If severe weather approaches your area... go inside a sturdy shelter away from creek beds and other flood-prone areas. Remember... a severe thunderstorm can produce large damaging hail... damaging winds in excess of 58 mph... deadly lightning... and very heavy rain. Lat...
