Statement as of 4:40 PM PST on December 21, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 am PST Tuesday... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow remains in effect until 9 am PST Tuesday. * Light rain with snow showers above 7000 feet will become all snow during the evening across portions of the northern Sierra and western Lassen County. Moderate to heavy snow will spread south late this evening through early Tuesday morning with the passage of a cold front. * Total snow accumulations: 4 to 8 inches in Lassen County west of Highway 395. 4 to 8 inches at lake level with 6 to 12 inches in the Sierra above 7000 feet. * Snow levels will fall to all valley floors by 8 PM PST this evening. * Travel will be affected this evening through Tuesday morning over Sierra passes with slick and hazardous driving conditions. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Snow is expected to pose an inconvenience to travelers. Roads will become slick and hazardous... with snow and ice first developing on bridges and overpasses.
