Beach Hazard Statement
Statement as of 5:35 PM PDT on May 05, 2015

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this
evening...

* hazards... strong rip currents can be expected at south facing
beaches including Avila Beach in San Luis Obispo County... and at
Jalama and Point Sal beaches in Santa Barbara County. They can
be particularly dangerous near a jetty or pier.

* Impacts... ocean activities may potentially be dangerous for
anyone. Minor beach erosion is possible at times of high tide.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats to beach and
surf zone safety are expected or occurring. Caution should be
used when in or near the water. Stay near occupied lifeguard
towers and never swim alone. If caught in a rip current... swim
parallel to the shore.
