... Wind Advisory remains in effect until noon PST today...

* winds and timing... areas of north winds 20 to 30 mph with
gusts to 40 mph below passes and canyons will diminish by
early afternoon. Isolated gusts to 50 mph are possible in the
foothills through mid morning.

* Impacts... major roadways that could be affected include
highways 101... 154 and 192... especially near Gaviota... San
Marcos Pass... and below the hills of Montecito.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

When driving... use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.





Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 2:46 AM PST Feb. 14, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect until noon PST
today...

* hazards... dangerous rip currents and waves are expected due to
elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet on west facing beaches. The surf
and threat of dangerous rip currents will decrease in the
afternoon.

* Impacts... there is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmer and surfers out to sea. Sneaker
waves can suddenly wash people off of beaches and rock
jetties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats to beach and
surf zone safety are expected or occurring. Caution should be
used when in or near the water. Stay near occupied lifeguard
towers and never swim alone. If caught in a rip current... swim
parallel to the shore.
