Statement as of 3:02 AM PDT on March 18, 2010 ... Wind Advisory in effect from 8 am this morning to 5 PM PDT this afternoon for the northern Sacramento Valley... The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Wind Advisory for the northern Sacramento Valley... which is in effect from 8 am this morning to 5 PM PDT this afternoon. * Winds: a cold trough moving south through the area will generate a strong pressure gradient with northwest to north winds 20 to 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. * Timing: wind speeds quickly strengthen this morning with peak winds around mid morning to early afternoon. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Currently flowering foliage will likely transport available pollens and allergens.
